On March 24, 1999, NATO member states undertook bombing campaigns in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia without a war declaration and without a permission of the UN Security Council. In accordance with the Director’s order issued already in 1998, as a precaution measure, the most valuable museum objects were packed in accordance with the evacuation plan and removed from the museum when the bombing began. For security reasons, day and night duty shifts were organized in museums.

The exhibition Ascension Day – Belgrade’s Slava was organized at the Old Royal Court, whereas at the Residence of Princess Ljubica, the Forum of the Admirers of Belgrade’s History organized a lecture within their regular meetings; it was no coincidence that the topic of the lecture was “Bombing of Belgrade by the Allies in 1944 after the Reminiscences of Dr. Rajko Ruvidić”.
