- Allied Forces bombing raids
After the bombing raids by the Allies in April 1944, objects of greater cultural and historical significance were moved to the safe of the National Bank; a part of the museum' holdings were stored in the Museum’s basement, where they remained until the liberation of Belgrade. Since the bombing raids were frequent, there was no time to make lists of objects removed from the Museum. Late in 1944, the Museum staff included: Miodrag Kolarić, Olga Šafarik, Gordana Jovanović, architect Aleksej Vasiljev, administration clerk Momčilo Jojić and two auxiliary workers. In October 1944, Milutin Garašanin was appointed Director of the Museum. He occupied that position until spring 1945.
