S. Vinaver (1891–1953), a member of the Modern movement in Serbian literature, a writer of essays, poet and translator, wrote a very sincere note concerning Ćosić's novel Dva carstva (The Two Empires): "You love your protagonists and you defend them with your own self and not with their own attitude".
