A bohemian restaurant located on the site of the present-day National Museum at No. 1 Republic Square. It was opened in 1855 and renovated in 1870, at the time when the National Theatre was opened on the opposite side of the street. The Dardaneli Restaurant then became a gathering place for bohemians, writers, actors and artists, who carried Belgrade's cheerful and bright spirit.
The restaurant was pulled down in 1901. This photo had been taken a few days before it was pulled down, when the regular guests had made the last photo of themselves gathered together in front of the restaurant.
