The foreground shows Defterdar’s Mosque, built in the 17th century and destroyed shortly after 1878, when Serbia’s independence was internationally recognized at the Berlin Congress. The mosque was located at the corner of Obilićev Venac and Vuka Karadžića streets (presently, the site is occupied by the Proleće Restaurant). To the left of the mosque, a part of the roof and the first floor of a building that still exists in an unchanged form can be seen. The background shows a part of the belfry of a Lutheran church, while in the far background the lantern of Captain Miša's Mansion can be seen.
