Double vessels consist of two joined bowls and a vertical band-like handle. Several fragmented vessels of this type have been found, but only this one could be reconstructed. Together with beakers, they represent an important stylistic feature of the Vatin culture in its fully developed phase. They were probably used for both sacred and household purposes, depending on the location in which they were found. They were certainly associated with certain religious ideas and were used in ritual ceremonies. In cemeteries, they were used as grave goods; in dwellings they were used for the storage of food, various cereals or spices. It is possible that they were used for the measuring of the foodstuff necessary for the family for a set number of days. They are quite distinct, and their occurrence in Šumadija and the Morava valley is a reliable sign of the penetration of the Vatin culture towards central Serbia.
